 Ammie
I recruited a second member of Indecline to come to Korea. This time, Ammie came to work directly with me in Suwon. We got along fine but had a few problems with our boss. We lived for the weekends. This day, Ammie went to a piercing shop that used to be right across the street from Skunk. I think the guy who worked there was also in 49 Morphines.

 Back to Anyang
This was my third trip to Anyang. The next one wouldn't be until the Champion tour next year. This show was the first time I saw the Explode. Afterward, the Chaos Class guys didn't have enough money to make it back to Seoul, so we got some drinks and headed off in search of a park. It was Mike's first time spending the entire night out, and he wasn't caught. I was with Jung and we just popped back to Suwon when we got tired.
Try to think your way through this situation.

 Korea/Japan Oi! Fest
This was the first of an unpredictable tradition of having a punk festival in both Korea and Japan. It was an ambitious idea and the next one in Korea wouldn't be until 2006. This one was an "Oi!" festival instead of a "punk" festival, so the Japanese sent all their skinhead bands, while the Koreans had a bit more of a variety. I think because of this they renamed it Punk Festival instead. It's always interesting to see a big bunch of Japanese punks over here and see some different bands.

 Geeks show
There was a Geeks show at a different venue. I'm not too sure why I refused to use my flash for most of the pictures. Probably with some fiddling in Photoshop I can make them look better.

 Songs for Young Lovers
Blood Pledge was again stuck on a Sunday night bill. There are a lot of pictures in here that could stand to have their levels readjusted.

 The Arrival of Rene
I managed to get my friend Rene interested in Korea. He got a job with the same company as me and came out to Korea in the spring. In the end he stayed for around two years. When he was new, he had a tendency to talk a lot to Koreans who didn't speak English. He also got hopelessly drunk his first night, a foreigner tradition.

 Crunk Night
This was the first Friday show I made it to. It was the going-away for a member of CST, so I came down late. When I arrived, Jung was there and she'd been drinking. At the end of the show, I had to carry her home. Then I went out drinking again. Things got crazy, and I came back late. I barfed everywhere in Jung's apartment and did a bad job of cleaning it up. In the morning, she assumed it was her chunder. Problem averted!

 Ska show
Up to this point, Korea hadn't really put out any decent ska bands. I didn't get my hopes up high when I heard this show would have two new bands called Kingston Rudy Ska and Dub Spain. Kingston Rudy Ska turned out to be pretty good, but still new and in need of practice. Dub Spain played more the rock-with-horns style of Sublime. Later on they were apparently labelled a rocksteady band, which is kind of annoying.

 Townhall show in Anyang
I didn't take a lot of pictures at this show. Just a few of the Geeks and a couple other bands. Also, Keunwoo gets his ass handed to him courtesy of a girl.

 Bupyung Jiralcore
Back before Suck Stuff grew up and moved, they started the label BPJC. I think now that they've gotten so close to Skunk, there isn't much use for BPJC anymore. The last Suck Stuff album was even released on Skunk. Back then, BPJC would have a show every so often and show off a bunch of bands that needed to play more often.

 Hon Label Show
For a while, Orc tried to manage his own label for Korean skinhead bands. All he was ever able to accomplish, unfortunately, were a few Sunday shows at Skunk. He planned to put out a compilation, but it never got off the ground. Because the shows were on Sundays there was never a big crowd.
Orc's band, Hyul Maeng, started as sort of a side project when Donghyun left Captain Bootbois for the army. They broke up shortly after Donghyun returned. You can also see Attacking Forces, who are also on hiadas now with Yeongsoon in the army. As well, Jiwoong's old band Oi Broker played. And of course Jiraltan 99 did a show. Most impressive was Donghyun's set with a temporarily reformed Captain Bootbois.

 Skunk Hell show
Another typical Skunk Hell show. I only got pictures of Rux and Couch.

 Hongdae Playground
I met up with a bunch of people and we hung out in the park before a show. Mike had been filling orders for Korean punks who wanted to get patches through American distros. One of the orders came today. Keunwoo was their spokesman because he spoke the best English, and Mike was their tool-human.

 Skunk Hell
Just a typical show in Skunk. Rux, Couch, Jiraltan99, Ghetto Bombs, Beach Valley, and Rock Tigers.

 Hongdae Playground
There was a show in the park on a Sunday. I was pretty hung over so it was a bit of a chore. The Geeks played, and blew away everyone in the park. Also I saw Popstore, Benzene, and Half Brothers.
I was with Jung, a girl I'd been communicating online with for a few weeks, but had just met in person the day before.

 New Camera
This week was an MF Crew show. M stands for Mooshimchun and I'll let you guess what F stands for. Essentially it's the crew from Cheongju, which means Attacking Forces and 13 Steps would be playing. Actually, aside from Nahu, all the other bands were not from Cheongju. Christ I can't wait for Yeongsoon to get out of the army.

 Townhall Show in Anyang
I got wind of a show in Anyang. It had been a long time since I went to a show anywhere other than Skunk, so I was curious to have a look. Plus, Anyang was pretty close to my apartment in Suwon. I took Smoky up and it was a pretty good trip.

 New Camera
I finally bought a new camera. It had been over two months since the last time I had taken any pictures so I took a bunch of photos around my apartment. You can see Smoky back when it was...less old, and my old camera.
I bought the camera with the help of my friend ZusT.

 Skunk Hell Opening Show
Just a couple weeks ago this was Drug, and now all of a sudden it's Skunk Hell and there's an entirely new crowd.
The bad news is that at the very end of the show, my camera fell apart. I was so wasted I couldn't put it back together and possibly broke it more. To top things off, I lost my glasses. They turned up a week later; apparently I'd taken them off and set them behind the computer backstage and forgotten.

 The New Skunk Hell
I came down to Hongdae to meet Jonghee. When I called him, he told me to meet him at Drug. A little hesitantly, I headed over, only to find the place spraypainted the fuck out and gutted. Jonghee handed me a spraycan and told me "It's time we make our own history."
Also, I went and saw Couch play at Freebird after. See how bad I was at setting the brightness on photos back then.

 Meeting Jonghee
Actually, I have no idea what day this was. I had met up with Deanna, a girl from my hometown who knew a bunch of my friends. We went to Lotte World and then headed over to Hongdae. I wanted to meet Jonghee so I could buy some CDs off him. How long did it take him to reach the park? Well, let's just say we don't call him Jonghee for nothing.

 Drug's Final Show
Things weren't going well for Drug with Crying Nut in the army. They threw one final, unceremonious show, and then quietly shut their doors. Let's see the sendoff they receive.

 Skunk/GMC New Year's Show
The first major show I went to was the year-end Skunk/GMC show at WASP. There were something like 16 bands playing and I got pictures of them all. Some of the photos are dark, because I've discovered my laptop screen is more sensitive than normal, so they looked fine to me. I might try to fix them up, but I've got a big job ahead of me.
Finding this show was hard. Imagine starting at Sinchon Station and trying to get to WASP. Do you have any idea how you'd do it? I ended up going a day early so I could find my way around. It wasn't easy and finally in a CD store I showed a girl the flyer and she pointed me in the right direction.

 Samchung at Turn
I was late for my very first show. I knew when it started, but finding the venue wasn't easy. On the Skunk website, Joey posted that it was only 30 seconds out exit 4 of Sillim Station. Well, awesomely enough, it ended up being five minutes out, and it took me through a small red light area and a dark alley. I showed up during Samchung's set and they let me in for free because there wasn't much left. Anyway, this was my first show in Korea.
