 The Beach
The tour bus took us down to Haeoondae Beach in Busan, where Verv would be fated to enter into history. He ran into the water with soju bottle in hand and got beach-slammed. Witnesses reported seeing only a hand clutching a soju bottle rising out of the waves. And he lost his glasses. He wrote an epic retelling of it on our board, From The Beach Comes A Blind Man. I've convinced him to start his own literary zine compiling some of his best works, such as Monsters Who Can Look Into Mirrors, The Day The Satanic Glory Faded (fictional luckily), Korean Taxi Drivers (And The Glory Thereof), and his masterpiece, Pride of the Zoo. They're all enormous but they speak about the glory of humanity in such grand language that you won't be able to stop reading.

Quads to Busan: The Search for Hitler
You know when you wake up after a night of catatonic drinking, not really sure where you are? The only thing you know is there's a dead millipede in the bathtub and a sex-toy vending machine in the hallway. You find out the people who you've been following around stayed up all night drinking and some are still drinking by 10 in the morning. And then you have an idea that sounds good. The movie poster here is that idea.
We found rental quads and thought it would rule to ride them into Busan. Then I suggested we should try to find Hitler while we're there. No, not the Nazi leader. The techno bar.
I posted an inquiry on ESL Cafe to see if anyone knew where it was. Some people insisted it was gone, and some said it was right down the street from their home. And where can a message board discussion go that has already violated Godwin's Law in the first post? Let's just say it got worse. By the second page there are people arguing over Muhammad for some reason. Oh, Internet.

 Way of the Road
After the show, we all crammed into a bus. I didn't know at the time but it had been chartered by Skunk and was driving us around to where we needed to go. Which ended up being in the middle of nowhere. But more on that tomorrow.

Suck Stuff and Rux in Daegu
We'll round it off with Suck Stuff and Rux. Plus you can see people hanging from the ceiling. They were doing it all through the show. Club Heavy seems like a decent venue. They have a good sound system and I like the layout of the club and the stage. Unfortunately their only website is a stupid Daum Cafe.

Couch and Ghetto Bombs in Daegu
It's always good to see Couch playing a show. Ghetto Bombs have really grown on me too. And you can see Loveita covered in Suck Stuff stencils. Hey, that just gave me a good idea for a tattoo...and a bodypart to have it done.

Shorty Cat and Bootbois Anthem in Daegu
Here are a couple more bands for you.
Mark is obsessed with the idea that Shorty Cat looks like the Korean version of the Edmonton chick band Homewrekers. I really don't see the resemblance myself.

Patients and Cock Rasher in Daegu
Time for the first couple of bands: Patients and Bootbois Anthem. I've been really messed up lately because there's a Patients on the Skunk Label but also a hardcore band called Patience. And you can just imagine the singer smacking his forehead and thinking "Dammit, now people will get our two bands mixed up!"

 Going to Daegu
What's Mark so pissed about? Probably the kids in the seat in front of us. You'll see what I mean.
Twenty-four hours later will find us in a bus headed to Busan with all the Korean punks. Verv and Mark will be drunk and singing football anthems until Paul tells them to shut the fuck up. I remark "Hey Mark, you remember those kids on the train? You're them."
When we got to Daegu we had some lunch and met up with Joe and Anne-Marie. Then Gillian showed up unexpectedly. We got pretty badly lost and turned around a couple times looking for the venue.

 Guitar Wolf
I got a bunch of Guitar Wolf photos. There was a lot more going on that I had to pay attention to, such as Mark's arrival, Bink's immediate departure, Jay's nearing departure, and of course Verv babysitting. No, not Verv-babysitting. Verv babysitting. No hyphen.

 Drink this and follow me
Words spoken to Mark as he gets off a plane from Dubai. He's here for a few weeks while on leave from Afghanistan. On arriving in the airport, he had several guys ask him which US base he was headed to. Boy were they surprised when he said "I'm here on leave."

Playing the Crane Machine with Jay
Can Jay win? Will he keep pumping the machine with his money? Will it pay off, or will he win that little dog with the red outfit for 20 000 won? Enter to find out, but what you learn may surprise you.
Ever want to see what a cell phone looks like with its screen cracked? Now you don't have to smash your own.

 Freshie's last show
It was Freshie's last show and I made it out a bit late. As you can see, he's decided to join the Zionist Occupational Government. We had a bunch of fun and got a lot of talking done and all that. I didn't take many pictures.

 Mono show
First I heard about Mono on the usual foreigner message board. When I posted a query about them on the usual board, I inadvertently addicted Joey to their music. Anyway, they seem to be fairly well known abroad, playing operatic ambient music with no vocals.

 Pastel Music show
There was a show in Rolling Hall on Friday featuring the bands of Pastel Music. I'd never heard of any of them, despite the fact that they seem to be the center of the indie rock scene. It was worth going to get a look at them. Plus, the show turned out to be free. Although I can't match the band names to the bands I photographed, I know these are the bands that played: Misty Blue, Sokyumo Acacia Band, Oldfish, Jellyboy, and Elope! with an exclamation mark. They were basically ambient music.
