Korea vs Switzerland
I left home around 3am. Millie watched with curiosity as I got ready.
The first cab took me as far as Sinchon. I got my bearings and realised it wasn't as crowded as I thought, so I caught a second taxi.
The second taxi dropped me off about five blocks away from City Hall. There were a fair amount of other people headed that way, all wearing red.
I passed by a crowd of people sitting on the sidewalk watching the game on a small TV. Also in the background, our first riot control bus.
Those bags are filled with torsos.
Wherever there was a truck, there were fans sitting on top.
I was shocked to find that everyone was obediently sitting down.
Well, some were lying.
There were lots of people selling merchandise, which would suddenly lose its value in a couple of hours.
I took a walk through one of the sidestreets to see what people were up to.
There was one group of people sitting facing away from the big screen. I had no idea what they were thinking, until I looked up and saw a reflection of the game on the side of a building.
Right after I took this I was ambushed. Vega, Morgan, and Joe were standing nearby.
A view across to the waiting riot buses.
The sun is starting to come up.
Not very good flag etiquette.
Then again, neither is this.
This guy had a lot of interested photographers trailing him.
Joe and I separated from the others, looking for a way onto a roof so we could get overhead pictures. There were a lot of cops in the subway station.
In our first attempt, I found a small window open on the third or fourth floor of a building.
These guys were fooled by my camera, thinking I was aiming it at them when I was taking a picture of someone else. They wanted their pictures taken.
Breakfast or late dinner?
Finally we found access onto another roof.
Joe prepares to dive.
He's much braver than I am.
The game is over and the crowd disperses without trouble.
Some even helped clean up.
For this picture I stuck my camera through the slats of a heavily barricaded window in a hotel.
Nope, no answer.
Taking the elevator down.
We had breakfast in a buffet overlooking the square in front of City Hall.
That's a lot of garbage.
I pity him.
The subway station was, to quote Paul, like Normandy.
At least the dogs were happy.
Millie was suspicious when I came home.
