Hannam New Town

I went up high to scout it out.

One thing I'd really like to focus on is these remaining trees in the lot.

Closer look at them.

Wider view, with the mosque and the tower in the background.

I contented myself with some more abstract closeup views.

Images like this always remind me of old video game levels, like Donkey Kong.

Parts of that area look fenced off and ready to go.

Inside the building, they had an old-looking bilingual instruction manual for the firefighting equipment.

Once again, no useful instructions for this fire alarm. I believe you're supposed to hit the black button inside, not the red telephone button in the middle.

Some warning signs.

This could happen to you.

This abandoned apartment still had knives. I figured I'd be good, if I suddenly found myself needing to defend myself.

I liked the contrast of these

with these.

This was from the roof of a building on the edge inside the zone.

I'm closer to the trees.

I'll probably never get a chance to get inside that building again, unless it stays fully standing until Chuseok.

Will probably end up like this sooner.

I found this on the door of the place I was in.

Next door.

This is now I think me wandering down into the zone.

The trees are close but not a safe walk.

The best route was to walk around this pool of stillwater.

Still, not good, and way too open.

I went back at night.

There's one light on still.

As you can see here.

I had just gone into the site again, which was actually easier to walk around at night (thanks especially to the full moon), but I ran out when a truck entered and seemed like it was approaching me. I went up to the roof again to figure out what I was seeing, and... no sign of the truck.

My phone camera was working pretty decently for what it is. A DSLR could probably get more, sharper detail, but this was handheld.

The crossroads.

Then I noticed a gate was open, and a truck was pulling in. This was right around midnight, just as May Day was about to end.

The truck went partway up the hill, and then just stopped. I can see a couple other trucks there, lights totally out. After a while, this truck turned off its headlights, and there was no more light. Were there people down there? What were they doing? Just parking trucks?
