Camp Howze

There are now signs pointing toward the sports field and the park for adoptees. It's right around here that I heard chemicals being dumped out during my first visit. They must have been going into that trench, which I don't recall from before (probably just brain damage).

And looking back downhill, there's where I dove into the (now gone) brush and hid from the truck, behind that concrete platform on the right side.

I don't know if I remember this gate being there. If it was before, it was probably always open, and never had a lock.

This barracks building had been indicated to me a few years ago as possibly being restored as a hostel for returning adoptees.

Going in for a closer look.

They stripped the insides of one of the two barracks.

The other one, which I'd photographed above, hadn't gotten that treatment.

This road leads up to the helicopter landing area.

Closer look at the signs.

Watch out for the excavator, which was no longer here. I think they might have halted work before finishing.

There's the water tower at the top. The road was not clear so I didn't go closer.

There's that other building that's built more like a North American motel.

This had been the mess hall. Four years ago, I made this video of a ride through the base, in which I drove right into the still-intact mess hall.

Looks a little different now.

Yes, I had driven inside this time too. It was less fun though.
