Itaewon Memorial

I parked across the street from the Hamilton Hotel.

As I arrived, I could hear these people singing what sounded like Christmas carols very loudly. On zooming in later, I found that the somewhat pinkish sign behind the backpack was a message about the Itaewon disaster, but was much smaller than the one against "Homosexual love."

This woman was handing out flyers, and had a picture of Hell across her chest somehow. People passing by did not give a shit. I said I'd take one.

Meanwhile, not 20 meters away, these guys were leading a solemn memorial service.

The wider view shows it.

All sorts of drinks offered.

I intended to photograph the guy kneeling, although this at least shows the notes. JiHoon later identified him as a member of Tenrikyo, a Japan-based new religion.

I remembered seeing that "Pink Lie" billboard on the night of the disaster. The banner in front of it is an expression of condolence from the DPK.

Here's a very similar one from the PPP, although what I was focusing on here was the trans bar I'd never noticed before, right by the main corner.

Here's the meme I eventually made using a picture from this visit and an earlier one from the Buddhist memorial when it was smaller (selected just because I had better access then).

Want to see what I got from the Christian? It was three loose sheets, double-sided, in three languages. I was able to trace it to these Jack Chick wannabes.

Here's the Korean sheet.

And the Arabic one.
